Use Companies House as the controlled source for current company data.

Where a company number is connected, Balansix can bring current Companies House information into Client Administration. Changes are accepted on demand rather than silently rewriting the client record.

What Companies House controls

The company number identifies the Companies House record. When connected, the current legal name and other supported company data can be reviewed from the client master record. Balansix is designed to show current officers and PSCs rather than cluttering the working view with former roles.

Accept latest Companies House changes

  1. Open Client Administration → Company.
  2. Check the legal name and company number.
  3. Select Accept latest Companies House changes.
  4. Review the updated company, address and people information.
  5. Use the audit trail if you need to see what changed.
There is no need for continuous auto-sync. The on-demand acceptance step prevents an external change from silently altering the practice record while someone is working on it.

Registered office address

Where a Companies House registered office is accepted, it is the preferred source for statutory accounts. A manual address can be used where the company is not connected or where a controlled fallback is required. On the next accepted Companies House refresh, current Companies House data takes priority for the registered office.

Officers and PSCs

People are stored as people, with one or more roles attached. If the same person is both a director and a PSC, keep one person record and show both roles. Review name formatting where Companies House returns names in “Last, First” form.
